the "airborne" musette bag
the word musette means bag in french in WW1 the us saw french soldiers using musettes instead of the 1910 haversack which has been complained about since it came out so your really caring a bag bag. it was originally made for Calvary troops and was still an issued piece of equipment to infantry soldiers but the airborne needed to use it so they could get their parachutes on.
dummy grenades
buy the ones off of emc militaria the dont have a giant hole drilled in the bottom
the od ones are more common but yellow ones were being issued because in ww1 they painted grenades yellow to mark that they were live and explosive they were more common in the pacific but were seen in the mto and eto

issuing of equipment and weapons
equipment and weapons are not issued the minute there made for example the m43 double buckle boots were issued in time for d-day that means it was around a year before they were even seen the m43 jackets and pants would have been seen around august or September 1944
same goes for weapons for example the m1 garand was made adopted by the us military in 1939 so why diddent all the marines on Guadalcanal have them we wernet stocked to fight a war.
